Elisse C. Ramey joined the WXVT team in July 2012, and is a native of Detroit, MI. Her single mother made sure she had an active childhood, participating in ballet classes, piano lessons, and various sports. Elisse has always enjoyed being dramatic, and upon entering Cass Tech High School, decided to pursue a Performing Arts curriculum. In high school she excelled in academics and athletics, graduating with honors and becoming a co-captain of her volleyball team. When she arrived at The Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications at Hampton University, Elisse decided to major in Electronic Media Production and pursue a career in directing music videos. As fate would have it, Elisse developed a desire to communicate with people and tell their stories. Her talent in writing and conveying those thoughts was not to be denied, so she majored in Broadcast Journalism. Upon receiving her BA in Broadcast Journalism, Elisse returned to Detroit and began her career as a journalist while pursuing her Master's in Communication at Wayne State
University. She had a few notable internships in Detroit, Raleigh, and Norfolk. While working for the City of Detroit Media Services department, also known as channel 10 (MyDetroitCable), Elisse really put her finger on the pulse of the community. She produced, wrote, and edited stories while there. In her free time she enjoys writing, improv, and listening to and reciting poetry.
