Little Rock man dies in crash during police chase

Associated Press - July 17, 2010 1:04 PM ET

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A man killed when his pickup truck crashed into a creek during a police chase along Interstate 30 in south Little Rock has been identified.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler says 45-year-old Marc Rice died in the crash shortly before 8 a.m. Friday. Sadler says the pickup Rice was driving had been reported stolen in Little Rock and a motorcycle in the bed of the truck was stolen from the Texarkana area.

Sadler says the chase began when a trooper tried to stop the pickup for speeding on I-30. He says the truck darted through traffic and switched between the interstate and a service road to pass slower moving traffic.

Rice's body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
