LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas is touting her opposition to some of her party's top agenda items in her first television ad.
Lincoln's campaign on Thursday released a television ad the Arkansas senator plans to begin airing around the state Friday morning. It highlights her opposition to a government-run insurance option as part of health reform efforts.
Lincoln says "I don't answer to my party, I answer to Arkansas" in the 30-second spot.
The ad goes up as Lincoln faces a primary challenge from Lt. Gov. Bill Halter. Labor unions and liberal groups have backed Halter after souring with Lincoln over her stances on issues such as health care.
Eight Republicans have said they'll run for their party's nomination for the seat.
