BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A former Baton Rouge police officer has pleaded guilty in an ongoing investigation of corruption in the city's courthouses.

Leonard Jackson, 45, entered the plea on Wednesday to federal conspiracy charges to solicit and accept bribes from people facing misdemeanor criminal charges at Baton Rouge City Court.

Jackson faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum of $500,000 in fines.

He is the second former city police officer to have admitted to taking part in the alleged bribery ring, which has also implicated one state district court official. Federal prosecutors have said the investigation is ongoing.
