NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A St. Louis construction company has won a contract to construct a storm surge barrier on the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal at Seabrook.

Alberici Constructors Inc. won a $495,000 pre-construction services contract for the floodgates.

The floodgates will close off the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal at the point where it meets Lake Pontchartrain.

The Army Corps says it will cost about $155 million to build the gates.
