Prison board to meet to talke about budget cuts

Associated Press - November 2, 2009 6:04 AM ET

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - The state prison board plans to talk about budget cuts at a special meeting scheduled for Monday.

Gov. Mike Beebe announced last month that the state's budget for the current year would have to be cut by $100 million because state revenue has been lower than expected because of the national recession.

The Arkansas Board of Corrections has scheduled a meeting Monday by telephone conference call. A news release said the meeting could be monitored at the prison system's headquarters in Pine Bluff.
