AMITE, La. (AP) - A Tangipahoa Parish jury has convicted a Hammond man of shooting and killing a man after selling him drugs and then robbing him at gunpoint.

The jury of 2 men and 10 women took a little less than two hours Thursday to reach a unanimous decision to convict 25-year-old Ricky Johnson of second-degree murder for shooting 33-year-old Stephen Reid of Hammond in the heart.

Assistant District Attorney Angel Monistere said in court that Johnson and his cousin walked around the Lincoln Park area of Hammond looking for people to rob in the early morning hours of Sept. 7, 2008.

She said the pair robbed one man of cocaine before finding Reid driving through the neighborhood looking for drugs to buy.

State District Judge Ernest Drake set sentencing for Johnson on Nov. 30.
