ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) - Tupelo day care operator Floristine Gladney has pleaded guilty to one county of using federal literacy program funds to pay some of her employees.
Gladney entered her plea Tuesday before U.S. District Court Judge Sharion Aycock in Aberdeen. She had initially been charged with nine counts.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo reports Gladney remains free on a $10,000 bond pending a pre-sentence evaluation.
Gladney was accused of illegally using federal AmeriCorps literacy program funds to pay some of her day care workers, who were not providing AmeriCorps services.
She faces up to 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
