FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The University of Arkansas' Alumni Association plans to present a distinguished alumni award to Gov. Mike Beebe.
Beebe will be among 11 honorees during the university's 65th annual Alumni Awards Celebration on Oct. 30.
He will be 1 of 3 people to received a Citation of Distinguished Alumni Award, joining Cordia Harrington, the president and CEO of the Tennessee Bun Co. of Nashville, Tenn., and Art Meripol, a senior travel photographer for Southern Living magazine in Birmingham, Ala.
Beebe received a law degree from the university in 1972. Before being elected as governor, he served as a state senator from Searcy and attorney general.
